Did you know?
Sandon and Ambergate staff work extremely hard to stop bullying in school before it even starts.
All staff have extensive training to recognise and diffuse potential bullying situations before they have arisen. All staff take part in annual safeguarding training and behaviour management, which includes de-escalation and PREVENT.
Our small ratios of children to staff means we are quicker at identifying issues and our training enables us to help rectify a situation.
Across both schools we have a Safeguarding and Pastoral Team whose roles and responsibilities include the delivery of group workshops and short courses, to help our pupils to be respectful of each other and to show that even if we don’t like someone, we are able to appreciate and understand each other’s differences without making them feel uncomfortable.
We have several different procedures that we use, such as:
· Open Door Policy
· Friendship Stop
· Friends for Life Facilitators
· On site Counsellor
· Lunchtime Clubs
· GANF is an ‘All Together School’
· Promote Positive Relationships
· Therapies, such as PAT Dog, Reflexology
· Anti-Bullying Awareness Week
All the above strategies help staff and pupils to address bullying before it starts, helping to sustain bullying prevention efforts over time.
If you are worried about your child or if you would like more information on this subject matter please contact school directly on 01476 564957 for Ambergate or 01476 564994 for Sandon or visit our GANF website, particularly the Parent Zone and Pupil Zone, where you will find lots of relevant links to help.
