A Phoenix Rematch

footThe Phoenix Academy 9 – 6 Ambergate Sports College

Once again Ambergate made the short trip to The Phoenix Academy and were prepared for another challenging game. Returning full of confidence from their 12-6 victory all the players were excited for another action packed game.

Kian Sergeant and Jamie Mitchell made their debuts and many of the players have already played for the year 10/11 team. Unlike the previous game Ambergate settled into the game very quickly and although the team doesn’t play a lot of indoor football it seemed they had learnt their lesson from the previous fixture. Ambergate scored the first goal and up until half time it was a very even game. 6-5 to Phoenix was the half time score and the message from Mr Maltby at half time was to play the excellent football they play at lunchtime and go and enjoy the experience as much as possible.

In the second half the opposition keeper pulled off some excellent saves and slowly started to increase their lead. Man of the match, Frank Osbourne, continued to work hard for the team and made plenty of tackles to prevent them conceding more goals.

Both teams were evenly matched throughout the game and enjoyed scoring goals.

Once again Corey Smith was outstanding, showing brilliant skill and control. Many professional players would have been proud of the skill that he produced.

Comment from Mr Maltby:

A brilliant and evenly matched game which was fantastic to watch. It was excellent to see Jamie and Kian enjoy their first match representing Ambergate.
