Our Work Experience and Careers Visit
By Lucas Year 11. Head Boy - Ambergate
The Field to Fork Event at The Lincolnshire Show Ground earlier in March, was an amazing experience for people who were interested in a career linked with food and its production.
The venue itself was very eye-catching especially for people interested in the agricultural vehicles as they entered the building. Altogether there were 4 tractors throughout the venue. One of our students was totally intrigued by the tractors and was allowed to sit in every one! My favourite things were the tractor driving simulator and the pizza making workshop in a purpose built van. The pizzas were delicious and made traditionally from the finest, natural ingredients. Everyone loved the pizza and someone even said it was better than Dominos!
I loved the simulator because I love gaming too. In the game you had to drive the tractor around a course. There was also a talk on jobs in the food industry. The person presenting the talk gave us her background information, all about her family business and how she got her current job position.
Throughout the day, there was a lot of activities relating to food and about the food industry. The whole day was amazing.
Horticulture Class also attended the ‘From Field to Fork’ event at Lincolnshire Showground.
This was an Agri-food careers event demonstrating all the different careers associated with the area and food production.
The class tasted some home-made pizza, drove tractor simulators and even made their own pasta! The class had a great day and picked up lots of freebies as well.
The pupils are definitely more aware of the different careers that would be available to them and they now know more about where our food comes from and how it is farmed.
