FOOTBALL RESULT - St Christopher’s 2, Ambergate 9
Ambergate’s football team travelled to Lincoln for a football fixture this term.
All the pupils were ready and excited to continue their winning streak. Mr Maltby also wanted to keep his 100% record for the term.
The game started very quickly with lots of promising attacking play. Reggie W soon added to his goal tally early in the first few minutes of the game. This soon turned into a quick fire hat trick and Ambergate were in control of the game.
Rugby themed visit to Gosberton House Academy
Ambergate pupils thoroughly enjoyed their recent trip to Gosberton House Academy, to participate in a Rugby World Cup themed afternoon.
All pupils enjoyed learning new skills and playing rugby with the Gosberton pupils.
Ambergate pupils developed their knowledge of rugby rules, and skills including passing and evading.
Sandon Head Boy/Girl Elections 2019/2020
At the end of October Sandon School held their annual elections for Head Boy and Head Girl.
The candidates who stood for Head Boy were Joshua Czarnecki, Tyler Lobley, Jack West-Sadler, Jake Rowlands and Jacob Marshall.
The candidates for Head Girl were Frances Swinnock and Shelby Walker.
Restart a Heart Day
On Wednesday 16th October, Ambergate Sports College staff and pupils participated in National Restart a Heart Day. This was to raise awareness of bystander CPR.
We used the day to show all pupils some basic first aid principles as well.
Construction Day 2019
On Wednesday 2nd of October selected pupils from Horticulture Class and Ash Class visited Lincolnshire Showground to take part in Construction Day. A group of pupils went last year and had a great time, so we were excited to see what we would be learning this year!
The event is run by Lincoln Group Training Association (LGTA), CITB and Lincolnshire and Rutland EBP and is a career taster event for schools across Lincolnshire to introduce them to the construction industry.
Ambergate Art Therapy
Kirsty Knight is a private Psychotherapist, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Trainer for Mental Health awareness and education. Kirsty joined the GANF team in mid-September and has been practicing in the Grantham area for nearly 6 years under her practice name of Open Minds Therapy. Kirsty has very varied clients based across Lincolnshire, London and across the East & West Midlands. She sees people both in their homes and at her private practice room based at home.
Defibrillators now at GANF Schools
Both Ambergate Sports College and Sandon School now have a life saving Defibrillator at each site!
This is with thanks to Friends of Sandon and Ambergate (FOSA), and a London based charity, The Carly Heart Trust - their mission is to provide all local schools with defibrillators and get as many people First Aid trained as possible.
Pupils clean up in Skegness
At the end of September, Stamford Bridge Class took a trip to Skegness beach as part of their topic – ‘Coastlines and where to find them’.
Throughout the term, the class have been studying coastlines. This included what their main features are, the wildlife that may be found at the beach and how we can make better choices environmentally to save wildlife.
Once everyone had arrived at Skegness, the class found a suitable area that was safe and not too crowded, so they could start their investigation.
GANF’s BTEC Travel and Tourism visit East Midlands Airport
Miss Clark’s Travel and Tourism class have been studying a unit for their BTEC qualification titled ‘Building working relationships with colleagues’.
To enable them to meet criteria for this unit, the pupils have enjoyed a fantastic experience of a tour and quiz around the check-in and arrivals lounge at East Midlands Airport.
Pupils learnt about the many job roles at an airport, as well as how the staff work well as part of a team.

Sandon and Ambergate staff work extremely hard to stop bullying in school before it even starts.
All staff have extensive training to recognise and diffuse potential bullying situations before they have arisen. All staff take part in annual safeguarding training and behaviour management, which includes de-escalation and PREVENT.
