  • VOB LionsLions on the Pirate Ship?

You heard right! Ambergate’s Pirate Ship has been out of use for a little while now due to needing some maintenance. As luck would have it, we were fortunate enough to have the President of The Vale of Belvoir Lions, Simon Ashworth, attend the recent GANF/FOSA Summer Fayre. By chance he was speaking to Mr Ellis and asked why the play equipment was out of bounds on the day.

  • germanyGerman Exchange Trip 2019

Pupils from both Sandon and Ambergate have again taken part in the annual German Exchange Trip with our partner school KBZO.

The trip started with a very early meeting at Ambergate, leaving for the airport at 6am!

    Day 1

We made it safely to Stansted and then explored the airport and played games. When we landed in sunny Memmingen, we took our first group photo and spent our evening exploring Weingarten and having our first meal out.

Following on from our International Award success in 2018, GANF have achieved the Bronze Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA).

Both Sandon and Ambergate are exploring opportunities to continue to further develop RRSA throughout the schools.

At GANF, we have considered the importance of articles and each classroom has created a classroom charter which link to specific rights that children hold. During International Week, there was a focus on studying refugees and how their rights may be different to UK citizens.

  • shedOut with the old…

Along with the ongoing improvements at Ambergate to enhance facilities on the site, the unsightly green container (that has been storing all our PE equipment) has now been removed.

This left the school with storage issues and FOSA kindly stepped in to help!

After lots of research to find the right solution the team found exactly what the school had been looking for.

Sports Day at GANF has always been an exciting day, one that pupils always look forward to, and this year was no exception!

Pupils from Sandon School and Ambergate Sports College both enjoyed an all-inclusive sports day, meeting a wide range of needs and abilities.

Across both sites, dedicated mornings were held in the style of circuits to enable all pupils to be involved.

  • pic3National Picnic Week 2019!

At the end of June Sandon School took part in National Picnic week.

The sun came out, the sky was blue and the pupils and staff joined together and had a whole school picnic. Pupils enjoyed a feast of sandwiches, pizza and sausage rolls.

Anna-Louise told us lots of facts about picnics throughout the week, for example, did you know that the word picnic was first seen in English in 1748 but the French had pique-niques (pick nothing) since at least 1694.

We all had a great day in the summer sun!
